4 Truths From Haggai

In this week’s sermon the message came from Haggai and his main objective was to encourage God’s people to finish building the temple. God’s people were given all the tools by the King in order to complete the project. Instead they decided it would be better to work on their own homes instead of the temple. Haggai warned them if them if they didn’t build the temple, they would face consequences from their disobedience. They had some struggles, but they eventually didn’t build the temple.  Here are 4 main truths from the message.

4 Truths
1. Give careful thought to your ways.

7 This is what the Lord Almighty says: Give careful thought to your ways. Haggai 1:7

2. Don’t despise small things.

“Speak to Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, to Joshua son of Jozadak,[a] the high priest, and to the remnant of the people. Ask them, ‘Who of you is left who saw this house in its former glory? How does it look to you now? Does it not seem to you like nothing? But now be strong, Zerubbabel,’ declares the Lord. ‘Be strong, Joshua son of Jozadak, the high priest. Be strong, all you people of the land,’ declares the Lord, ‘and work. For I am with you,’ declares the Lord Almighty. Haggai 2:2-4

3. Be strong and don’t be afraid God is with you.

13 Then Haggai, the Lord’s messenger, gave this message of the Lord to the people: “I am with you,” declares the Lord. Haggai 1:13

4. Give God pleasure and honor.

Go up into the mountains and bring down timber and build my house, so that I may take pleasure in it and be honored,” says the Lord. Haggai 1:8

The Lord wants us to be obedient to the calling he has on our life. He wants to be the center of whatever we are placing our energy on.  What temple is He specifically asking you to build currently? In order to build the temple, we need to first have a pure heart. We first need to repent of any sin that is in our heart and turn from it and do what God is asking us to do.

Lastly, we need to remember to be obedient to what the Lord calls us to do, some things that he asks may seem small but it still has purpose and meaning,  remember God is with us so be strong, and continue to give God pleasure which come through our praise. I hope this mini blog encourages your heart today.
